'THE MESSAGE OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS / THE WORK OF CHRIST IN PERSPECTIVE'

‘Master, which is the great commandment in the law?’ – Matthew 22 vs 36

Hello Dearly Beloved. I bring to you a Word from the SPIRIT OF GOD, a Word of Revelation of GOD’S Grace in CHRIST JESUS which has long been made known in the writings of the Old Testament and is now in our days been revealed to us even the CHURCH. Be Blessed and increased in the Knowledge of GOD as you read. AMEN.

Okay, in this teaching, we are going to be categorizing our discussion in two (2) subject headings, the first is;

THE MESSAGE OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

Beloved, what’s the message of the ten commandments which Moses the Servant of GOD received by the disposition of Angels? Did you know that the ten commandments which Moses received has in it a Divine embedding of the Revelation of the Eternal Work of CHRIST? Okay let’s go. Now I’d like us to read that chapter in our opening chapter from that verse 36 up to the verse 40;

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. - {KING JAMES VERSION}

This was a question that someone asked the LORD our Master. Now the fellow asked the LORD which is the great commandment in the Law. Please I want you to note something right now, see what the LORD said, in the verse 37;

‘Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.’

Now this was what the LORD JESUS said. But do you know that in Scriptures Moses never gave this as a Commandment to the people?, this was not part of the Commandments which Moses received on the Mount, it was a Word of exhortation which Moses gave to the people at a certain time when He addressed them. And that address is found or rather seen in the Book of Deuteronomy chapter 6. Let's see it up till the verse 5;

Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. - {KING JAMES VERSION}

Please you have to understand that the verse 1 of this Deuteronomy Chapter 6 does not imply that the chapter 6 is a Commandment from GOD. The previous chapter which is the chapter 5 was where Moses read the Ten (10) commandments to the People okay?, so now in the chapter 6, He is continuing His speech to them, letting them know that what they've heard in the chapter 5 are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments of GOD which HE has commanded them to do. You understand now right?. Yea. So that statement in the verse one does not mean that the chapter 6 is the Commandment okay?, the Commandment is chapter 5. Okay, all that said. So Moses began talking to them in this chapter 6, encouraging them, counseling and exhorting them to cling to GOD okay?, and in the verse 5 He said, 'And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.'. So this was when Moses made that statement, it was not a Law from GOD to the People, but Moses Counsel/Exhortation to them. - Selah. If you read the rest of the Chapter, you will see it clearly that He was advising/counseling them on how they should live and follow GOD.

So you see, Moses understood the Ways of GOD (So the Bible says), but the people knew only the acts of GOD. So you see, Moses knew what it was to Love GOD, so He admonished, encouraged and exhorted the people to be of that mind. But you see, that was not a Commandment in the Law, it was just Moses exhortation to the people as He addressed them. But what do we see here, the LORD JESUS said that that Word (In-between line statement of Moses which was not a Law given by GOD) is the Greatest Commandment in the Law. Waow! Wait a minute, this is worth pausing and meditating on. So as long as GOD was concerned, that Word of exhortation from the Mouth of Moses to the people was a Commandment. Now, there are times in Scripture, when the Commandment/Instruction of a Man of GOD or a King is established by GOD to be HIS Commandment to the people. Let’s see the case in 2 Chronicles 29 vs 25;

‘And he set the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.’ – {KJV}

You see, in this case, the King Hezekiah ordered a structure of worship according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the King’s (David’s) Seer, and Nathan the Prophet, in other words, according to how they instructed. And see what it says, ‘for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.’ You get what that means?, it means that the commandment/instruction which this Men of GOD gave the people as the order with which GOD will be worshiped were actually the Commandments of GOD. So you see, GOD established their words as HIS Commandments.

Now this was the case about our discussion. There’s no place in the Laws given to Moses where “Love the LORD your GOD…” was given as a Law. It was simply an exhortation/Counsel that the Man of GOD gave to the people, and JESUS stating it to be a Law (been the greatest Law) shows us that GOD established that counsel as a Commandment. Uhmmm. Now, see this, in chronological order, the first five (5) of the ten commandments are GOD-Wards, and the last five and Man-Wards. Let’s see it;

And God spoke all these words:

2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

13 “You shall not murder.

14 “You shall not commit adultery.

15 “You shall not steal.

16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” – Exodus 20 vs 1 – 17 {KING JAMES VERSION}

You will observe that the first five of them where GOD-Wards, and the Last five of it, Man-Wards. The LORD JESUS says this in the verse 39 of our opening passage, “And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”. Now let’s analyze these statements; if the first five commandments of the Law has been noticed to be GOD-Wards, that means that the first five commandments of the Law are categorized to be the first Commandment JESUS spoke about in the verse 38 of our opening passage. Now let’s see what the Apostle Paul said on this subject;

8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. – Romans 13 vs 8 – 10 {KING JAMES VERSION}

Oooo this is beautiful. Did you notice the verse 9, that all the Apostle Paul said there were the last five Commandments of the Law which we have looked at? Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; The Apostle Paul mentioned the last five Commandments of the Law. Here He was addressing the second greatest Law according to the statement of the LORD JESUS in the verse 39 of our opening passage, and He went further to say this in the verse 10 that Love worketh no ill to His neighbor: therefore Love is the fulfilling of the Law. So we can say that the last five commandments of the Law are the second Law. So therefore, there are no ten (10) commandments, but two (2) which are, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind & Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. So we’ve just done a Mathematical-like derivative of the Answer JESUS gave to that fellow, and it has been proven to be True. Glory to GOD! AMEN.

What then do we get from all these? It is therefore obvious that all that GOD was asking for by the Commandments of the Law was LOVE. We therefore come to a final derivative conclusion that Love is the Message of the Ten Commandments. – Selah. GOD was only asking for Love, GOD had a dream to have a people unto HIMSELF who will practically walk in Love, Love towards HIM and Love towards their fellow Man. Uhmmm Waow! Okay now let’s talk on the second subject heading of our discussion, which is;

THE WORK OF CHRIST

‘We love him, because he first loved us.’ – 1 John 4 vs 19 {KJV}

You see, the Amazing Love which GOD has lavished upon us in that we have been Eternally forgiven of all our sins/iniquities which were past and which might surface as we journey on Earth, has moved us into the Love for GOD. You see, now we are in Love with GOD willingly, why? Because of what HE did for us. Ooo, this is that Love which GOD desired for the people of Israel to operate and walk in, but they could not because the Law makes nothing Perfect, the Law cannot enable, so GOD put aside, abolished that old way and introduced GRACE, a new Plan. Oooo how Perfect that Plan was and is, how enabled we are by GRACE. Now by the enablement of Grace, we are fulfilling GOD’S Dream which HE always had for HIS People, which is to walk in Love. Glory to GOD! Hallelujah!!

This is beautiful. I Believe that you have received the Word of GOD which I have brought to you in this piece of teaching by the Grace of GOD. I know and Trust the LORD for you that you have been Blessed and have increased in the Knowledge of GOD, even in the Revelation of HIS SON, JESUS.

GOD Bless You.
