OBEDIENT CHILDREN

'Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace...' - Ephesians 2 vs 15

Greetings to you dearly beloved of God in Christ Jesus. Pay proper attention to the words which you now read. Be blessed. Amen.

In our opening Bible passage, we are informed that the Law of Moses has been abolished. Okay let's move further:

'For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished.' - 2 Corinthians 3 vs 11 - 13 {KING JAMES VERSION}

Two statements in these passages in verse 11 and verse 13:

  • For if that which is done away
  • that which is abolished

So these Bible passages further confirms our opening Bible verse, showing that the Law of Moses has been done away with, it has been abolished. So it is clearly seen that the Law has been abolished. Who abolished the Law? Christ. That's what our opening Bible passage states. Let's see it again, and let's see how Christ abolished it:

'Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace...' - Ephesians 2 vs 15 {KJV}

The verse 13 of this passage shows us where this verse 15 is coming from. Let's see it:

'But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.' - {KJV}

Then He went on to verse 14:

'For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;' - {KJV}

Then verse 15 our opening Bible verse:

'Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace...' - Ephesians 2 vs 15 {KJV}

It's clear now. Christ abolished the law of commandments, this is speaking of the Laws which Moses gave. How did He abolish the Law of commandments of Moses? The verse 14 explains it:

'For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us...' - {KJV}

AND HATH BROKEN DOWN THE MIDDLE WALL OF PARTITION BETWEEN US

When was the middle wall of partition between us and God broken? Evidently at Christ's death on the Cross. Let's see it:

'Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent...' - Matthew 27 vs 50 - 51 {KING JAMES VERSION}

The verse 50 speaks of Christ's death, and the next verse (51) tells us what happened after His death, that was the middle wall of partition between us and God broken down, which the Apostle Paul talked about in the verse where we are coming from. It says, the veil of the temple was torn into two from the top to the bottom. This happening was an indication that the Law of commandments which caused man to stumble at God's righteousness has been taken away. Hallelujah! Okay let's go forward.

Now, the question is this:

Now that the Law has been abolished, can the Believer in CHRIST live any how and do just anything because the Law is abolished and done away with?

Let's look at that now:

'Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine...' - 1 Timothy 1 vs 9 - 10 {KJV}

Notice, he says that the Law is not made for a righteous man. Why? Because a righteous man has no need to be instructed in righteousness. The Law of commandments which was given by Moses was for the purpose of instructing the people unto righteousness. But the Believer in CHRIST is already righteous by faith. The Believer in CHRIST has attained that (Righteousness) which the children of Israel attempted to attain through obedience to the Law, but they couldn't.

'For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.' - 2 Corinthians 5 vs 21 {KJV}

WE HAVE BEEN MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS.

Hallelujah!

So now that the Law of commandments have been abolished through Christ's death and resurrection, how then should the Believer in CHRIST live his life in this earth? Well it's simple. Let's see what the Bible says:

'As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance...' - 1 Peter 1 vs 14 {KJV}

O glory to God! We are called Obedient Children, and yes that's right, because a righteous man is an obedient man, and the Bible clearly tells us that we are God's righteousness in Christ. Hence, we are obedient children. Glory to God. So we are obedient children, we don't need the Law of commandments to tell us what is good or bad. We have the Spirit of God in us; the will and pleasure of the Father is in our hearts. Hence, we don't need a Law telling us what is good or bad, because we know what is the Father's will, because of His Spirit living in us. Glory to God!

'This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.' - Hebrews 10 vs 16 - 17 {KJV}

You see that... The Laws (will) of God is on our heart. How? The Spirit of God who knows what is the mind of God (for all circumstances) is in our hearts. Hence, we know what is the mind of God (in any situation), we know what is the will of God, we know what is the mind of God in every situation, we know what brings God glory, we know what God desires of us; we know by His Spirit that He has given us, God's Spirit is in our hearts. Hallelujah!

'For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.' - 1 Corinthians 2 vs 11 {KJV}

Now, one may not properly interpret this Bible verse with the way the King James Version puts it. This verse is simply saying, just as you are the only one who knows your thoughts and plans, likewise, God only knows His thoughts and plans. Now, a man who has received the Spirit of God into his heart can now know God's thoughts and plans, because the Holy Spirit who is the presence of God has brought to us the mind of God. So now we can know the mind of God, we can know what God is thinking, we can know what God wants at every given time. The Holy Spirit is the omnipresent extension of God in the earth, the Holy Spirit brings the presence of God almighty to a man and in a man. Hence, bringing a man into fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus. So we can safely say, that a man cannot have fellowship with God except God's Spirit is in him. Let's see how the Message Bible Translation puts that verse:

'Who ever knows what you're thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God - except that he not only knows what he's thinking, but he lets us in on it.'

You see that? Okay. How does God lets us in on what He is thinking? He does that by giving us His Spirit, and He has done that, He has given us His Spirit. So now, we can know what God is thinking and planning. Waow! God's Spirit is His presence, manifesting in us all that is of God. - Selah

So we can clearly see that the abolishment of the Law of Moses is not an excuse to begin to do evil. The man in Christ has the Spirit of God in his heart. Hence, he knows what is the mind of God, and he so walks - he doesn't need the Law of Moses to know what is wrong or right, he has the fullness of the compendium of goodness in his heart, he knows all that is right, and he yields himself to walk in them because he is an obedient child.

'As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance...' - 1 Peter 1 vs 14 {KJV}

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
