IS YOUR NAME WRITTEN IN HEAVEN?

'Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.' - Luke 10 vs 20

Our opening Bible verse was the response the Lord Jesus gave to His disciples who had just returned from a ministerial mission. Let's see what they said to Him that brought about this response He gave to them;

'And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.' - Luke 10 vs 17 {KJV}

• Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name

The above was the statement the disciples spoke to the Lord, then the Lord said to them not to rejoice in that, but that they should rejoice because their names are written in Heaven. Waow! By that reply, the Lord made plain what the priority is - what our focus should be; He shifted their focus to eternal realities.

This is the start of a new year (2024), and there is a lot of rejoicing about seeing the new year, there's a lot of merry and partying about seeing and entering into the new year, many rejoice that they are in the new year. But just like the Lord redirected their focus to that which matters - eternity, likewise I say unto you right now, Is your name written in Heaven? What shall it profit a man, if he has made merry about the new year, and rejoiced in seeing the new year, then he dies somewhere in the year and goes to hell? What profit is there? - Think about it.

The true rejoicing is not about earthly things; the true rejoicing is not about earthly events; the true rejoicing is not about earthly attainments; the true rejoicing is not about riches; rather, the true rejoicing is that a man's name is written in Heaven - though he will die (if the Lord tarries), but his soul shall not be destroyed in hell!

'And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.' - Matthew 10 vs 28 {KJV}

This clearly shows us that there's such a thing as destruction of the soul!

Beloved, this is the time to wash your hands! This is the time to purge yourselves of darkness! Salvation beckons! Eternal life with Christ beckons! receive it now that you are still breathing! Ask the Lord Jesus to fill you with His Spirit, and intentionally and deliberately begin to feed on the word of God. Are you a Christian? Be a Christian indeed.

'Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.' - 1 Corinthians 15 vs 34 {KJV}

• Awake to righteousness

'And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.' - Romans 13 vs 11 {KJV}

'Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.' - Ephesians 5 vs 14 {KJV}

This is a call to all who call on the name of the Lord, depart from iniquity!

So I ask you again, Is your name written in Heaven?

The ultimate rejoicing is that your name is written in Heaven. Ooo what blessedness that Jesus knows me, and He counts me as a citizen of His kingdom. Oooooo! Ooooooo!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
